www.wvbankers.org 16 West Virginia Banker Teach Children to Save, sponsored by the ABA Foundation and celebrated annually during Financial Literacy Month, is an opportunity for bankers to demonstrate their commitment to community by teaching young people the value of saving. These are just a few of the WVBankers who volunteered their time in 65 different cities around the state. #WVBankersGivingBack Teach Children to Save Wayne Branch The City National Bank Wayne Branch hosted 20 children from Lavalette Play- mates Preschool and Daycare. Branch Manager, Pam Mullins and Personal Banker, Debbie Sanders, gave the students a tour of the branch. After the tour, they went upstairs for story time, animal crackers and juice. Pam report- ed, “What a great time we had with the children. The children want to come back next month for another story.” St. Albans City’s St. Albans Branch Manager, Christy Scott, taught 53 students at Andrew Heights Elementary using the Money Money Honey Bunny book and lesson plan. Hinton City National’s Hinton Branch Man- ager, Heather Johnson, spoke to 70 students at Hinton Area Elementary about the importance of Needs vs. Wants. Heather used illustrations from the Piggy Bank Primer workbook in her lesson plans. Each student received a special $5 Quarter saver folder to get the students started with their savings plan. Beckley The students at Central Head Start in Beckley, WV impressed City’s Branch Manager, Jonathan Grose, and Personal Banker, Jennifer O’Dell, by making a bank teller window and an ATM machine to practice their banking skills with. West Side City’s West Side Charleston Branch Manager, Shannon Farley and CSR, Miranda Burdette spoke to 21 first grade students at Richmond Elementa- ry in South Charleston. They used the Money Money Honey Bunny financial education book in providing a great lesson about saving and sharing. Montgomery City National Bank’s Montgomery Office Manager, Brandi Pritt, and CSR Kaila Grimmett, visited Gauley Bridge Elementary. They presented the class with the “Banker Brenda” series that teaches children all about what a bank does and how important it is to save your money.
