After that first week, I said this is a place I really want to work. I was so impressed by the service that the bank provided to our community after the devastation had hit.” WVBankers: “Do you think that this type of involvement builds loyalty and trust in your community and cus- tomer base?” Brent: “It develops a feeling of trust among our customers. People get to know your attitudes and abilities through your involvement in the little league programs, church programs. It gives them an outlet if they have a question. They already have experience with our staff and their efforts in the community and their ability to address situations and help people out.” Brent: “Our Community Service attitude starts at the top at the bank. It starts at the board of directors and allows management to give strong support to the staff to be out in the community doing the things that they do. About three years ago Marion County Chamber of Commerce gave the bank their community service award and then last year Bill was awarded the Chairman’s award for his service to the community. It starts at the top and goes all the way down to the frontline staff. Bill: “It builds a level of trust, helping people out during these times and be- ing active in the community. It builds trust and confidence in you. It helps in a lot of ways.” First Exchange Bank is an integral part of their community, they are more than just a bank serving customers.
