Spring 2017 13 West Virginia Banker CRA Partners would like to thank Pendleton Community Bank in Franklin; Union Bank, Inc. in Middlebourne; and SunTrust Bank in Sissonville for their participation in our efforts to protect vulnerable elderly residents while earning CRA credit for their bank which is hard to do in these turbulent times of stronger compliance regulations. These financial institutions have loaned, invested or granted more than $1 million to help provide safe living environments to over 225 West Virginia seniors who reside in nursing homes, HUD senior housing communities or veterans’ homes. The nursing homes that have implemented the Senior Crimestoppers program have experienced a 95 percent reduction in crime incidents. Why should a bank get involved with CRA Partners? Two reasons – it’s the right thing to do and it is good business. The elderly citizens in our society are frail and vulnerable. In the final stages of their lives, they deserve the very best that we can give them – at minimum they should live in safety and security, without the fear of theft, abuse and other personal violations. It’s also good business. The elderly seniors, Veterans and their families appreciate businesses and organizations that provide protection for their loved ones and are a lucrative affinity group for a bank to pursue while gaining CRA credit for your bank.  For more information on CRA Partners and how it can help your bank, visit our newly designed website at www.SHCPFoundation.org or contact Sue Shaffer at Sue.Shaffer@ SHCPFoundation.org or call 877-232-0859. “As a community bank, we make various investments into our community. I believe there is no better investment than the opportunity to provide a safe and secure environment for the very ones that made our community what it is today; and, we take great pride in our partnership with Pendleton Manor to this end.” - Pendleton Community Bank’s President Bill Loving
